陸客銳減，不僅旅行社倒閉，飯店也出現關門潮，為避免出現骨牌效應，觀光旅遊業十二日將北上陳情，希望蔡政府接受九二共識，讓老百姓有飯吃。
陳姓旅遊業者說，台東很多飯店、餐廳、珠寶店靠陸客撐，近來已有中悅、夏威夷等飯店因陸客人數減少關門歇業，憂心再這樣下去，十月以後將出現骨牌效應，將波及餐飲、洗衣店、珠寶、土產行等產業。
中悅飯店吳姓前員工說，總統大選後就接不到陸客，人事成本加租金負擔重，今年六月飯店關門。台東市某酒店六月風光開幕，李姓業者說，試營運期住房率還有六、七成，現只剩一成多，十月以後更可怕，很多飯店一團陸客都沒有，上街是逼不得已。
新政府推動新南向政策，知本高野飯店經理黃慶安說，台灣會講印度、越南、泰國、柬埔寨等國家語言的人員不足，甚至連來自東南亞國家新移民的第二代，都不懂媽媽的母語，如何推動南向？
張姓飯店業者說，新政府南向政策，等到有成效也是好幾年之後的事，到時可能已有不少同業死翹翹。

泰王蒲美蓬（Bhumibol Adulyadej）今天不敵病魔辭世，享壽88歲，泰國民眾哀傷不已。泰國總理帕拉育（Prayuth Chan-ocha）隨後宣布，全國將進入為期1年的哀悼期，所有娛樂活動必須暫停30天。
同樣也是君王體制的荷蘭與英國也發出旅遊通知，提醒正在當地或是計劃前往旅遊或洽公的民眾應注意事項。
荷蘭外交部呼籲該國民眾在泰國國喪期間應尊重當地政府在生活上的禁令，尊重民眾的哀傷情緒，避免、克制討論泰國皇室。
